It is anticipated that a total of 14 teams will compete in order to earn a spot in the XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup, which will be contested for the first time using a two-stage system.
WBSC Americas Softball has revealed the official schedule for the XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Americas Qualifier
Which will begin on November 12 in Guatemala and will include a total of 14 nations competing. The tournament will be held in the United States. The competition, which will be held at both the Carlos Cano Gomez Stadium and the Carlos Larraaga Gomar Stadium, will get underway with a pair of matches at ten in the morning.
The tournament will begin with the 14 teams on November 12–16 with the First Round, which will have two groups:
- Group A: No. 1 USA, No. 5 Puerto Rico, No. 14 Venezuela, No. 16 Brazil, No. 48 Argentina, No. 57 El Salvador, Costa Rica.
- Group B: No. 3 Canada, No. 4 Mexico, No. 22 Peru, No. 30 Cuba, No. 43 Dominican Republic, No. 57 Nicaragua, Team WBSC.
The top four finishers in each group will move on to the next round.
The WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup will be the first WBSC event to be contested under the two-stage system. The five teams who finish in first through fifth place in the final standings will qualify for the tournament. In the Group Stage, which will take place in 2023, a total of 18 teams will be divided evenly among three groups.
Ireland, Italy, and Spain will each be responsible for hosting one of the groups. The top two teams from each group, along with two teams selected at random, will advance to the Final Stage, which will be held in 2024 to determine the world champion. Italy is going to host the final stage of the competition.
